Spell of the Titanic
Author Unknown
The Titanic touches something deep inside
you feel the pain and agony she tried to hide.
She once stood so proud and true
but now she rests alone in the silent hue.
The Titanic can make you fearful and sad;
by looking at the destination she had.
Where was the room for iceberg and ship to pass that night-
Why couldn't the Titanic greet Monday's early light?
The poem “Spell of the Titanic” is a very powerful poem. It is unknown who wrote it, but it is very popular poem. This poem rhymes at the end of each word. Line one and two says, “The Titanic touches something deep inside/you feel the pain and agony she tried to hide.” in other words the poem is saying that when the Titanic was hit deep in the ship water rushed in killing and hurting many people, therefore the people who were on the Titanic “felt the pain” from the ship. The author also explains in line three and four that the Titanic stood proud and true because the Titanic was the largest ship at the time.
I love this poem because the Titanic was a very beautiful ship and after it sank, only about 600 escaped in ships but only one ship actually came to America and the others were lost. This poem uses personification, making an object have human quantities. The author also leaves a question that made everyone think, this question was, “Why couldn't the Titanic greet Monday’s early light?” That is also why I love this poem because the author really leaves you hanging.
